Our Mission

The Amateur Rocket Propulsion Lab (ARPL) is a non-profit, student amateur rocketry group that designs, manufactures, and tests rocket engines. Our mission is to inspire people to do something that few others dare to try, and do it because it's fun. Through our work our members come to develop hands-on skills necessary to design and manufacture rocket systems, which is not possible to obtain in the classroom. We believe that the learning experience from developing a rocket system is unmatched and it simultaneously builds confidence in one's abilities and humility from one's limitations. These skills not only helps with job hunting but with the self-confidence necessary to be a successful engineer at any firm.

We follow a goal-driven engineering process, allowing us to move very quickly and efficiently from concept to construction to testing. All systems and subsystems are tested prior to being put on the test stand or the launch pad, proving the design and manufacturing limitations of the parts or systems.

Rocket engineering is very expensive, but we try our best to reduce costs throughout the entire design process. Our projects are entirely funded by our members, private sponsors, and donations. Companies that believe in what we do donate tools, materials, components, and services. We are always looking for sponsors who would like to support this project, either financially or through donations.
